Joe Coghlan - Drums, guitar and vocals

Born in 1958, Joe Coghlan hails from Jersey City... He didn't stick-around North-Jersey, too long, though... This lad was "heading-south"... south to Toms River-NJ, that is!

And so, Joe's musical-journey began; While in middle-school, he immersed himself in the popular rock, funk and R&B-music of the day... and received his very-first drum-set (He even owns an original Ludwig 'Ringo'-kit, still in use!) as an eighth-grade graduation-gift from his proud-parents in 1972... He's never looked-back!

After graduating from Toms River North High-School in 1976, Joe was 'college-bound'. He earned a B.S.-degree in 'Exercise Science' from Rutgers in 1980. He followed-up at Temple University's grad-school, studying Physiology, between 1983 and '85.

Through his college-years and beyond, Joe somehow-managed to find enough-time to hone not-only his 'percussive-talents'... but to develop some formidable 'chops' as a lead-vocalist and guitarist as well... By the 1990s, he was 'ready for the stage'... and in short-order, became a 'fixture' on 'The Jersey-Shore-Band-Scene', working with such groups as 'Motivation' prior to his most-recent effort, 'Three of a Kind'.

Whether on drums or guitar... in any performance-configuration; solo, duo, trio or full-band, Joe is equally 'at-home'. He even assumed the role of 'wedding singer' for a short-stint, in the late-'90s... ultimately realizing (thankfully!) that his 'rock 'n roll-soul' would not be found in a 'catering hall'!

Upon the recommendation of two 'Fellow-Jersey-Shore-Koot', Ronnie Weinstein and Brian Wiley; Joe Coghlan came-aboard with the band in January of 2012. His musical-influences; The Beatles, Eagles, Doobies, CSN, America and Fleetwood-Mac (to name a few!) were a perfect fit... The geography helped, too... J-C currently-resides in Point Pleasant, the 'epicenter' of many-a-Kootz shore-gig!

When he's not rockin' with The Kootz, Joe loves... working-out 'Eight Days A Week' and tinkering with his vintage/classic Trans-Am... In 'true-rocker'-spirit, he's been-known to hop-aboard his motorcycle from time-to-time, as well!

Although you're not likely to find him in Jersey City, the chances ARE good that you'll see "Joe-C" on any number of 'Kootz'-shows... In any-number of locales... in-and-around The Garden-State!
